Life's Too Short to Drink Bad Wine

Being a Winemaker and SEO in the same time is quite an interesting mix. You find yourself begin the day at sunrise in the vineyard, checking the vines, taking tests and do all this stuff winemakers do, after that you take your kids to the kinder garden, then sit in your car and drive all the way to your office in Ramat-Gan, and you're there right in time with all the others, who live by the internet clock - coffee at 1100...

There are a lot of interesting things that can be said about the similarity of both professions, but there is one thing which I like best: In both SEO and Winemaking you have a lot of data do learn, you do a lot of tests and analysis, you follow every project and monitor every change, there are lots of books, consultants, written and unwritten information you can use, but in the end of the day - you relay on one thing - your nose. No professor knows exactly what does the specific yeast cell or a bacterium does at certain moment; just like no SEO master knows exactly what data did the last Google-bot picked from your site, and nobody can exactly tell what will be the results of monitoring this data by Google.
They can all just take a wise guess.

But don't get me wrong here - I'm not saying you should just guess. I believe that the more knowledge you have - the wiser your guess is, and when you are in a highly competitive area, you need a really wise guess.

If you like to understand how I became a winemaker, there is the story in my winery page. My SEO Company - Koranga - is a venture of a few investors and myself. We aim to have an SEO Company that looks at things a little different than others. We've founded the company in March 2007, and we're taking things quite seriously.
The founders of the company are: Amos Talmor (Chairman of board), Gigi Levy, Avner Barel, Eyal Eshed and myself.
